Remote working is now a normal part of how many organisations operate, but security risks travel with us wherever we work. ISO 27001:2022 Annex A.6.7 โ Remote working โ is designed to make sure that working from home, a coffee shop, or another location does not weaken our information security.
The control is about awareness and behaviour. It expects everyone who works remotely to understand simple, practical habits that protect company information, devices, and networks.
What should you actually do?

Use software, email, cloud storage, and communication tools only as your organisation allows. Do not install unapproved applications or share accounts.
If a device is lost or stolen, if you spot suspicious activity, or if you think something might be a security incident, report immediately to your security or IT team for follow up actions.
Remote working is flexible, but security is not optional. By treating every remote session as if you are in the office, you help protect the organisation from data breaches, service disruption, and reputational damage.
Security awareness is not just about knowing the rules โ it is about applying them in the places where we actually work.
When employees understand how to protect company information outside the office, remote working becomes safer, more consistent, and less vulnerable to everyday mistakes.
Small habits such as locking screens, using secure connections, and reporting issues quickly make a real difference.
